About: Simon McAdams is a 2nd year Biology student with a deep interest with adventure and exploration. Growing up he spent many summers on expeditions with the Boys Brigade, Duke of Edinburgh Award and the John Muir Trust. He desires to advance his learning and eventually get into the expedition field professionally. After creating ExpAnd, he has watched it grow from strength to strength and is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

About: Peter Adamson is a Geosciences student who has always been keen to explore and visit new places. He hopes that from our expedition we could contribute in some small part to helping the local people and their surrounding habitat so it can survive in the future.

About: Anna MacKenzie is in her final year, studying Ecology and Conservation at the University of St Andrews. She has also spent a year studying Wildlife
Management in Tanzania. She has travelled independently trough Morocco, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda and is now waiting for an opportunity to explore the rest of Africa. As a committee member of ExpAnd she hopes to gain more experience about planning group expeditions so that one day she may lead her own expedition.

hannah Vice-President: Hannah Charnley [Expedition: Health, Safety and Equipment Officer]

About: Hannah Charnley is a Modern Languages student with a keen interest in travel and the outdoors. She has successfully completed all three stages of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and has been part of expedition teams in the High Andes of Peru and the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. This will be her third expedition and her first experience of being part of the leadership and planning team.

About: Niall Currie is originally from Aberdeenshire, he is a biology student in his third year at the University of St Andrews. As one of the team going on the Expedition to Tanzania, Niall hopes to develop many personal skills as well as positively contributing to the local community around TONA Lodge. Upon his return he hopes to pass on the skills and knowledge gained.

About: Chris Dickie is a first year medical student. Chris feels that the experience of going to Tanzania will be invaluable for the rest of his life as he will be faced by daily challenges of varying types in the medical profession and hopes that by facing lots of challenges through the society he can get a firm foundation in dealing with hard experiences, physically, mentally and emotionally.

About: Zuzana is a first year Biology student, but she is also interested in Geoscience. She still keeps a spitit of an adventurer, as she has always been amazed by the beauty of the mountains, especially the Himalayas. One of the men she admires is Heinrich Harrer, an Australian explorer
and mountaineer who wrote “Seven Years in Tibet”. She is also interested in Sustainable development strategies, especially in terms of energy consumption.

About: Zoe Beasley is currently studying in second year, doing Joint Honours in International Relations and Arabic. She intends to spend part of her Honours years studying inSyria. It is Zoe’s enthusiasm for travel and sharing in the lives and stories of strangers that will take her to Tanzania. She is a keen cyclist and explorer, never happier than when sporting lycra or thermals!
